Can I use third party labels with my LabelWriter?

Label Compatibility

Please ensure that you are using compatible DYMO Authentic labels, as they are specifically designed to work seamlessly with our devices. These labels are optimized for label detection and have undergone thorough testing to deliver the best printing output.

Please verify the packaging of your labels. It should display a green and white or blue and white design, and the barcode should feature two dots, as illustrated in the example below:

The latest generation of our DYMO LabelWriter printers uses technology that allows our software to automatically detect the label size you are using. This way you will not encounter issues with misaligned printing or excessive feeding due to user error. For this reason, the device is only compatible with DYMO Authentic labels and will not accept third-party or obsolete DYMO labels.

LabelWriter printers require specially treated thermal direct labels that are not compatible with any other printing technology. These thermal direct labels must be compatible with DYMO Printers and stored properly. We recommend that you use authentic DYMO LabelWriter brand labels to ensure compatibility and quality. Other brand labels may not work properly with your printer or may damage it and void your warranty. Please contact DYMO Consumer Service if you need help with selecting the right labels for your LabelWriter.
