Why can I only import .udl files in the DYMO Software?

The software DYMO Connect allows you to import Spreadsheet or Database Data in the following file formats: .accdb, .mdb, .xlsx, .xlsb, .xlsm, .xls, .txt, .csv & .udl. Refer to your spreadsheet or database program documentation for instructions on how to export the data. Refer to the Microsoft documentation on Universal Data Link (*.UDL) for more information.

DYMO Connect uses Microsoft Access Database Engine (ACE) 2016 in order to import these type of files. When installing the DYMO software, it will automatically install the bit version that corresponds to the bit version of your operating system ( 32-bits or 64-bits).

Please note: DYMO Connect v1.4.3 and lower use Microsoft Acess Database Engine (ACE) 2010.

If upon importing data in DYMO Connect, you can only select .udl files, it means one of the following:

    • – Your system lacks Microsoft Access Database Engine (ACE) 2016, e.g. no Microsoft Office product was installed when first installing DYMO Connect.
    • – The version of ACE 2016 that is currently installed mismatches your Microsoft Office or Operating System bit version.

To solve this issue you will have to manually install (the correct bit version) Microsoft Access Database Engine (ACE) 2016.

Manually install ACE 2016
