How to set up the LabelWriter Print Server without Control Center?
To set up a LabelWriter from the 300, 400 or 450 series using the LabelWriter Print Server, we advise to use our software Control Center. This software provides you with the assigned IP address on which the printer can be added to the network and has additional configuration options for the Print Server.
To find out more about setting up the LabelWriter Print Server, please consult the article DYMO LabelWriter Print Server information and FAQ.
The Control Center software is no longer supported on operating systems from macOS 10.13 High Sierra or later and Windows 11 or later. In this case, you can use the web configuration by entering the IP address in the URL bar of a web browser. The default IP address for the LabelWriter Print Server is 192.168.1.100
Control Center is therefor not a mandatory software. If the default IP address does not work, you will need to find out the correct IP address using a generic command that can be used on any operating system.
Alternatively, on Windows, you can find the IP address as follows:
- At the bottom of your LabelWriter Print Server you will find a mac address. Make a note of it.
- On the keyboard, Press together Windows and R keys to open the Run window.
- Launch the Command Prompt by typing “cmd” into the box and then press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run the command as an administrator.
- Enter the following command: arp -a
- You will be shown two lists.
- Find the mac address in the right-hand list and check which Internet address in the left-hand list corresponds to it.
- You have found the IP address with which you can configure the printer.
- Now follow chapter 3 in the manual.
Alternatively, on MacOS, you can find the IP address as follows:
- At the bottom of your LabelWriter Print Server you will find a mac address. Make a note of it.
- On the computer: use the search function (Spotlight) and go to Terminal.
- Open the program and enter the following command: arp -a
